Research on different apps with the purpose of assigning tasks, functions and navigation (UX) as well as the graphic style and appearance (UI)
DIRECT COMPETITION: Apps from other colombian universities
Apps that did not need institutional username and password to access their functionalities were installed and analized. In the opposite situation, students from other universities were contacted in order to investigate.
App Universidad Central
Rating on Play Store: 4.4⭐
Positive features:
-Visually clean interface.
-Uses institutional colors.
-Different acces modes (student, administrative staff, professor, candidate, guest)
-Customizable screen (there is a button that indicates this)
-Clearly differenced menus.
-Unified icons.
-Subject catalog.
-The app is used to promote the university.
Features to improve:
-Very slow loading time
-The default campus map comes from Google Maps, hence it does not show the physical appearance of buildings.
-The homepage is not visually attractive.
-Low contrast in the bottom bar, making it difficult to know which part is being navigated.

Rating on Play Store: 3.2⭐
Positive features:
-Visually clean interface. Uses institutional colors.
-The side menu has clearly differentiated all of the features.
-From the app, it is possible to access courses and have information about international agreements.
Features to improve:
-Some icons in the home screen do not look unified.
-The access to the digital ID is done through a QR code, having the process be more complex.

Positive features:
-The side menu organizes correctly all of the services
-Grade calculator.
-Purchases and service requests can be done from the app.
Features to improve:
-The homepage is not visually attractive.
-Different graphic styles in some subpages.
-Does not have a loading screen.

Rating on Play Store: 4.6⭐
Positive features:
-Students can get reminders for their classes.
-Having chats with classmates inside the app.
-Has detailed information about grades and completed credits.
-The side menu differentiates clearly all of the features.
-Filter of events by category and school. Students can directly register from the app.
Features to improve:
-The yellow hue used is too vibrant.
-Homepage shows only the class schedule, without menus or other options.

NAVIGATION MAP
Navigation hierarchy. The project emphazises in the access from the student profile, since this is the most benefited from the app and is the most accesible for research and performance checks.

CHECKS AND ITERATIONS
The app was tested by asking students to navigate it executing certain tasks. Average time was recorded, as well as the number of users that made mistakes. A Likert scale was built in order to find people's perception towards the app.
